Waiver of Debt Mechanism

The waiver of debt mechanism is a discretionary power. It allows a debt owed to the Commonwealth to be completely forgiven.
The Waiver of debt mechanism is found in section 63 of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act).

There is no situation which guarantees a favourable result for a waiver of debt request.
